Multi-Use Trail (Brook Run Park to Pernoshal Park)

In 2011, the City adopted the Parks Master Plan, the Transportation Master Plan, and the Georgetown Master Plan.  Each of these community-developed plans encouraged the creation of a multi-use trail connection from the Georgetown area to Brook Run Park.

In 2012, the City embarked on a redevelopment initiative for Georgetown dubbed “Project Renaissance.” This initiative created a public/private partnership to redevelop 35 acres the City purchased in the Georgetown area (a 16-acre property and a 19-acre property) into a series of public parks and neighborhoods connected by a multi-use trail.

The multi-use trail, known as the Dunwoody Trailway, across the 19-acre property is roughly ¼ of a mile south of Brook Run Park with two private landowners between the City’s 19-acre property and Brook Run Park. In August 2013, the City completed negotiations with the northern landowner and in March 2014, the City completed negotiations with the southern landowner.

With land control in hand, the City hired a consultant to prepare the construction documents for this multi-use trail, known as the Dunwoody Trailway, connection between Brook Run Park and the future Pernoshal Park
